ALCHEMY

1 - a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life2 - a power or process of transforming something common into something special3 - an inexplicable or mysterious transmuting

ANOMALY

1 - deviation from the common rule - irregularity2 - something anomalous : something different, abnormal, peculiar, or not easily classified.

APPARITION

The visual aspect of a ghost or spirit.

ASTRAL PROJECTION

The phenomenon of projecting the soul or spirit for out-of-body travel.

CLAIRAUDIENCE

The power or faculty of hearing something not present to the ear but regarded as having objective reality.

CLAIRVOYANCE

1 - the power or ability of discerning objects not present to the senses.2 - ability to perceive matters beyond the range of ordinary perception.

DEJA VU

1 - The illusion of remembering scenes and events when experienced for the first time.  2 - A feeling that one has seen or heard something before Something overly or unpleasantly familiar.

DEMONOLOGY

1 - The study of demons and evil spirits.2 - Belief in demons - a doctrine of evil spirits.

DIVINATION

1 - The art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers.2 - Unusual insight - intuitive perception.

DOPPELGANGER

A ghostly counterpart of a living person.

DOWSING

To find (as water or minerals) by dowsing.

EMPATHY

The feeling of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, emotions, and experience of another, of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner; also - the capacity for this.

ESP (extrasensory perception)

Perception (as in telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition) that involves awareness of information about events external to the self not gained through the senses and not deducible from previous experience.

EVP (electronic voice phenomena)

The recording of unexplained sounds or voices on recording devices.

FAITH HEALING

A method of treating diseases by prayer and exercise of faith in God.

GHOST

The soul or spirit of a deceased person.

INTUITION

1-a Quick and ready insight.2-a Immediate apprehension or cognition.b-Knowledge or conviction gained by intuition.c -The power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.

LEVITATION

The act or process of levitating; ie, The rising or lifting of a person or object by means held to be supernatural.

PARANORMAL

Beyond the range of scientifically known or recognized as normal. Covers the range of the rare, supernatural or unusual.

PARAPSYCHOLOGY

The science concerned with the investigation, especially by experimental means of events that are not accounted for by natural laws and that are considered to be evidence of mental telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis and other paranormal phenomena.

PHASMOPHOBIA

An abnormal fear of ghosts, spirits, or specters.

PAST LIFE RECALL

To have memories, or flashbacks of having lived in another time period.

POLTERGEIST

A noisy usually mischievous ghost or sprit thought to be responsible for unexplained noises, rapping, footsteps. etc. Some poltergeist activity may be related to psychokinesis of a living person.

PRECOGNITION

Clairvoyance relating to an event or state not yet experienced.

PRECOGNITIVE DREAMS

To have dreams of events that has not yet been experienced.

PREDICTION

To predict future events before they happen.

PSI

A generalized term for paraschological abilities such as remote viewing, ESP, psychokinesis. It is the 23rd letter of the Greek Alphabet.

PSYCHIC

1 -Lying outside the sphere of normal physical science or knowledge : immaterial, moral, or spiritual in origin or force.2 -One who is sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences, marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding.

PSYCHOKINESIS (PK)

See Telekinesis.

PSYCHOMETRY

Divination of facts concerning an object or its owner through contact with or proximity to an object.

REMOTE VIEWING (RV)

To visualize through sight, or feelings, shielded information or natural or structural features. related to ESP.

SCRYING

To gain insight by gazing into a crystal ball, water, fire or other random media.

SYNCHRONICITY

Meaningful coincidences that are sometimes caused by subconscious psychic activity.

TELEKINESIS-PSYCHOKINESIS-LEVITATION

To move or levitate an object without physical contact. To move an object with thought alone.

TELEPATHY

The knowing what others are thinking. The ability to communicate with others on a psychic level without the necessity of spoken language.

WRAITH

The likeness or apparition of a living person seen just before death, a ghost or spirit.

Different Types of Hauntings

What is a haunting?  The repeated manifestation of strange and inexplicable sensory phenomena at a certain location.  This does not mean that a haunting is associated with a actual ghost.  There are no general patterns to haunting's which makes them hard to define.  Some manifest on occasion, or even continually or for periods that last  from several days to centuries.  Others may only occur on certain anniversaries, in accordance with distinctive weather conditions or for reasons that make no sense whatsoever.  Here are what to look for in some of those hauntings.

 



Residual Haunting

Most common haunting.

Its like they are never dead, they are stuck in time.

They seem to haunt the same spot over and over again.

No actual entity is present in this style of haunting.

Most common noises are footsteps on stairs, moans, and cries.

There is usually very little you can do on this style of haunting, and the energy that was left behind is replaying a video tape from the same scene over and over again.  This can be scary and emotional at the same time.  We understand.



Intelligent Haunting

In this style haunting the entity or entities are aware of their surroundings.  Most of the time they are not confined to one spot and can move around freely.  Also, the acknowledge the existence of human beings and even try to communicate with them.

They can move objects up to around 10 lbs.  

They are looking for people to notice them.

Usually, between the hours of 11pm and 4am are the times that the entities can manifest themselves being the darkest hours of the night.

Most of the time they don't show themselves during the day cause it takes to much energy.  

They are mischievous and benevolent, depending on the reason.

Getting them to leave may be hard.



Poltergeist

German word for "Noisy Spirit".

Reports of poltergeists dates back to Ancient Roman times.

Activity starts with knocks and bangs, furniture starts moving around by itself.  Then, activity becomes more intense.  Manifesting itself through voices and even the appearance of full apparitions.  Furniture may slide across the room and the bed may shake.

Most of the time, the haunting circles around a female in her teen years.  Some of these cases seem to be caused by the female unknowingly controlling the energy around herself.  It may seem that most of the activity doesn't happen unless that certain person is present.

When its not the teenager that is manifesting activity there are usually several spirits in the area.  The spirits pool together in order to become more stronger to move heavier objects and to make louder noises.  Certain times it may stop within a few days, other times it may take a few years.  

By understanding why it was there in the first place will help it from ever coming back again.  Knowledge is the key.

Demonic

Demons Are Not Human.  They are a rare occurrence but Do occur.  

Easy to identify, as long as they are not hiding.

A demonic haunting, usually you will smell a stench similar to rotted flesh or sulfuric acid ( rotten eggs ).  They often make growl sounds.  They often like to make contact by hitting, shoving, pushing and even scratching.  Usually people who have been scratched see 3 scratch marks.

Most people who see demons see black mass standing in doorways or near rooms.  Sometimes they are called shadow devils.

When walking into a room the  whole air area feels thick like fog and the temperature will drastically change, typically becoming warmer.

These creatures are very strong.  

They don't mind showing themselves.

They can take on any form as they wish.

They will break down a person's free will and take full possession of them.

May take weeks to years to drive out the evil demon but only the highest Catholic Church can do so.

Fairfield Paranormal Society is located in Taneytown, Maryland.   I founded this group to investigate the supernatural, spiritual haunting's and other haunted activity and hope to educate and help families who have nowhere to turn.  

About 75% of suspected hauntings can be easily explained and are not hauntings at all.  But, there are 25% that are legitimate and cannot be easily explained.  Regardless, we do not try to prove there is a haunting, we try to debunk the haunting first and then after everything has been eliminated  only then, with research, documentation, and most of all- the physical evidence captured, can we better understand what is going on.

 As being a paranormal investigator, our job is to try to eliminate all natural and logical explanations and causes.

We walk into each investigation with skepticism.  We do not walk in thinking every place is haunted. We need to be open for logical answers first - then look towards the paranormal for things that can not be explained.

You won't receive just a "Yeah, it's haunted." statement. You will receive a personalized and detailed report at the end of the investigation with a copy of all evidence gathered.

Incubus and Succubus

Medieval legend claims that demons, both male and female, sexually prey on human beings. The male demon is known as an incubus and the female is the succubus. They generally prey upon the victim when they are sleeping, though it has been reported that females have been attacked while fully lucid. One such event was covered in the book and subsequent movie, The Entity.

There are variations of this sexual demonic legend. In Zanzibar, what is known as the "Popo Bawa" generally preys on men and only in their own beds. In the Chilo‚ Province of Chile, a wretched little dwarf, known as El Trauco, woos young naive women and then seduces them. Ịn Hungary, a Liderc is a demonic sexual predator that flies under the cover of darkness and will appear as a wispy apparition or a fiery light.

Any one of the above succubus' can be blamed for unexpected or unwanted pregnancies, especially in unmarried women, though one can imagine this might be a convenient fabrication to get out of unsavory rumors!

Some confuse the incubus with the legendary "Old Hag" syndrome but it is not. The Old Hag episode is usually restricted to a feeling of great pressure on the chest and not a ghostly sexual encounter. Another difference between the incubus/succubus encounter from the Old Hag is that the former is not always unpleasant while the Old Hag is mostly accompanied by a feeling of death, suffocation and just trying to survive.

Because the incubus and succubus are generally experienced during the sleep state or coming in and out of it, experts feel that it is an imaginary experience and not a real one, however, telling this to the person who has just gone through it, they find that hard to believe as it feels as real as intercourse itself. Who can say for certain if these events are real or imagined but until you've experienced yourself it's hard to determine or judge.
